CPL Animate celebrates ‘Official Future Day’ with ‘Back to the Future’ inspired exhibition for charity

Wednesday, 07 October 2015

Wednesday 21st October 2015 – Back in 1989 when the cult classic film ‘Back to the Future’ named the date as the ‘official future day’, it seemed light years away. Roll on 26 years and we are nearly there. To celebrate the date, a milestone for any ‘Back to the Future’ fan, the animation team at CPL Online are hosting a contemporary art and mixed media exhibition entitled ‘Hey McFly!’ after the famous film quotation.

The exhibition will take place at Constellations Liverpool on Wednesday 21st October 2015 from 7:30pm.  Members of CPL Animate will be joined by a host of other artists including ‘Boneface’, Vicky Barker, Kirsten Shiel, Leyla Gurr, Big Foot Studio and Gareth Barker. Also exhibiting for this one off event, is the Hill Valley Preservation Society, who will be showcasing their range of ‘Back to the Future’ props and costumes.

The event will also be raising money for Parkinson’s UK, the UK’s support and research charity, with a silent auction of all artwork exhibited.

“’Back to the Future’ is such an iconic film and its theme absolutely optimises what we do at CPL Animate, which is innovate”, said Nikki Anderson, Head of CPL Animate. “The team all love the film and we decided we couldn’t let the infamous ‘Future Day’ pass without celebrating today. We are really proud of the mixed media artwork that will be showcased at the ‘McFly!’ exhibition and look forward to welcoming fellow ‘Back to the Future’ fans and those that are inspired by creative change, like us, to visit.”

“Whilst the event is about bringing together groups of people who share a passion for creative arts and ‘Back to the Future’, we also wanted to support a worthwhile cause. In honour of the film’s star, Michael J. Fox, who has publicly battled with Parkinson’s disease, we have chosen to support Parkinson’s UK”, continued Nikki.

“We are delighted that the CPL Animate team have chosen to support our charity with such an interesting event. Their passion is infectious and it is great to see so many artists getting involved and donating pieces” added Sarah Green, Regional Fundraiser North West, Parkinson’s UK.

Taking place in the heart of Liverpool’s established Baltic Triangle, known for being the cutting-edge destination, where pioneering creatives work and play, the exhibition is set to be a huge success with tickets flying out.

The event, sponsored by CPL Online, will be free to enter. Those wishing to attend must register in advance to receive their free ticket. “Thank you to our parent company, CPL Online, for supporting this venture by sponsoring the event. It has enabled us to offer free entry for fans of the film or those interested in art, to come along and enjoy it. We’d encourage anyone who attends to make a donation to Parkinson’s UK and take part in our silent auction to help us raise money for our chosen charity” added Nikki.
