Great Scott! CPL Animate’s ‘Hey McFly’ a huge success!

Wednesday, 28 October 2015

21st October 2015, otherwise known as ‘Future Day’, is the day that Marty McFly and Doc travelled to in the classic film ‘Back to the Future II’. To mark the occasion people gathered all over the world to celebrate the iconic day that has been anticipated since 1985.

Our Animation team, CPL Animate, decided to celebrate in style and hosted their very own ‘Back to the Future’ inspired contemporary art exhibition ‘Hey McFly’ at Constellations, Liverpool.

The exhibition showcased artwork from many talented artists including: Big Foot Studio, Vicky Barker, Kirsten Shiel, Leyla Gurr, Gareth Baker and various members of the CPL Animate team. Also in attendance were the Hill Valley Preservation Society, who brought along some replica props from the film. And what would a BTTF event be without a DeLorean?! Luckily the CPL team had that covered, with attendees having the opportunity to have their picture taken sitting in the icon car - an opportunity not to be missed for any fan of the film.

The free-to-attend event attracted over 300 fellow ‘Back to the Future’ enthusiasts, with the queue taking over the Baltic Triangle! There were even reported sightings of several Marty Mcflys.

The event was not only a very cool art exhibition, but was in aid of a very worthwhile cause: Parkinson’s UK. Thanks to the silent auction of all artwork exhibited, the team are looking at a total of over £2,000 raised for the charity.

A huge congratulations to the CPL Animate team on such a successful event. It just goes to show “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything”.
